Saquon Barkley clearly had no pitch count in his first game back from an ankle injury, logging 24 rushes and finishing with 93 yards in the Giants’ 14-9 loss to the Bills on Sunday night.
The offensive line, despite being decimated by injuries, looked slightly improved in Barkley’s return, but Boomer and Gio agree that the Giants offense looked immensely improved with Barkley back in the fold.
“It was obvious that Saquon Barkley is the missing piece for the Giants,” Boomer said. “It looked like he was shot out of a cannon.
“In the fourth quarter, he looked like he had some really good runs. He looked like he got better as the game went on.”
Barkley’s status was up in the air heading into Sunday’s game, but even after a limited week in practice, the star running back showed off his big-game prowess down the stretch of the game, as the Giants were looking to pull off a massive upset.
“He looked as healthy as we’ve ever seen him,” Gio said. “I thought maybe he would be limited, or he wouldn’t look the same, but he looked absolutely great.”
