One in, one out (in theory) for the Jets on Sunday, as NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that Gang Green interviewed former Colts offensive coordinator Marcus Brady for their OC vacancy, while ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Panthers have requested to interview Jets defensive backs/safeties coach Marquand Manuel for their defensive coordinator opening.

Brady was with the Colts from 2018 until mid-season, as he was fired on Nov. 1 after a Week 8 loss dropped Indianapolis to 3-4-1. He joined Indy as an assistant QB coach in 2018, was promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2019, and then became offensive coordinator in 2021.
He spent the second half of this season as an offensive consultant with the Eagles, whose head coach, Nick Sirianni, was the Colts’ OC from 2018-20.
Brady, 43 never played in the NFL, but spent seven years (2002-08) as a QB in the CFL after going undrafted out of Cal State Northridge, where he is the school’s all-time leader in completions, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. He began his coaching career in the CFL in 2009, and spent five years as the offensive coordinator with the Toronto Argonauts before joining the Colts.
He is now technically the second Eagles’ staffer the Jets have interviewed, as they also met with passing game coordinator Kevin Patullo earlier in the week. Gang Green has also requested permission to interview Patriots tight ends coach Nick Caley as well.
As for Manuel, the eight-year NFL veteran safety has served as the Jets’ coach that position the last two seasons under Robert Saleh. The 2022 season was his tenth as a coach, and he does have defensive coordinator experience, holding that job in Atlanta in 2017-18.
He began his coaching career in 2012 in Seattle, where he was a defensive or special teams assistant for three seasons before moving to Atlanta as the secondary coach in 2015. He sat out the 2019 season after leaving Atlanta following 2018, and he was an Eagles assistant in 2020 before joining Saleh’s staff.
Carolina’s coaching staff is in flux as they search for a new head coach. Former Giants head coach Ben McAdoo is still currently their offensive coordinator, but they had an interim DC in Al Holcomb after Steve Wilks was promoted to interim head coach mid-season.
