Despite tight end Dawson Knox finding himself in concussion protocol after this Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills are cutting some of their tight end depth with the release of Jason Croom from the team's practice squad.

Croom has been with the Bills since 2017 after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Tennessee.

In Josh Allen's rookie season two years ago, Croom was the Bills' leader at tight end in receptions (22) and yards (259). That was true despite the fact that Charles Clay was still on the roster.

Looking to build on his 2018 season, Croom spent all of 2019 on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Following training camp this year, Croom was placed on the practice squad with Dawson Knox, Tyler Kroft, Reggie Gilliam, and Lee Smith all making the active roster.

With Croom's release, just one player that caught passes from Allen in his rookie year remains on the team. That player is wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie.
