Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills offense exploded last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it was, once again, quarterback Josh Allen at the center of it all.
For the second time this season, the reigning NFL MVP has earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after he tallied six total touchdowns - three rushing and three passing - and accounted for 357 total yards of offense for the Bills in a 44-32 win at Highmark Stadium.
Through the air, Allen completed 19-of-30 passing attempts for 317 yards, and while he tossed two interceptions, he threw his touchdown passes to Tyrell Shavers, Ty Johnson and James Cook. On the ground, Allen accounted for 40 yards on six rushes and found the end zone three times.
This marks the second time in as many years where Allen accounted for six total touchdowns of three passing and three rushing scores in a single game. He did the same in a losing effort last season in a game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Allen remains the only player in NFL history to accomplish such a feat.
Among the other accomplishments reached by Allen on Sunday against the Buccaneers included his 75th career rushing touchdown, which ties Cam Newton for the all-time record by a quarterback in league history. He also reached 290 career touchdowns, surpassing Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning for the most touchdowns by a player 30-years-old or younger.
This honor marks the 17th time in his eight-year NFL career that Allen has receiving the weekly honor from the NFL, extending an already franchise record. The other performance this season that garnered such an honor came following his Week 1 performance against the Baltimore Ravens in Buffalo's historic comeback on "Sunday Night Football".
The only other player this season to earn Player of the Week honors this season for the Bills is running back James Cook, who earned the recognition following Buffalo's Week 8 win over the Carolina Panthers.
