Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After holding off the Cleveland Browns, the Buffalo Bills are looking for their fifth straight win when the Philadelphia Eagles come to town at Highmark Stadium.
One of the key pieces for Buffalo's success last week in Cleveland was the running game, led by Pro Bowl running back James Cook, with 117 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
"Well his mindset, attitude, the look in his eyes week in and week out in particular the back half of the season" said Bills head coach Sean McDermott on Friday during his weekly appearance on the "Extra Point Show" on WGR. "I would say last four games and he's been able to motivate, influence and inspire our team with not only his play, but also his approach on the sidelines, and day-to-day in the building"
The NFL's leading rusher has helped support Josh Allen and the Bills offense. Cook leads the league with 1,532 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns on the season.
On the injury report, just three players were ruled out for the Bills ahead of Sunday's contest: Jardan Phillips, Matt Prater and Jordan Poyer. Poyer left the Browns game late with a hamstring injury. McDermott says they are still figuring out his replacement on Sunday.
The Bills quarterback who suffered a foot injury against the Browns seems good to go. McDermott said "[Josh] is getting better each day and is trending in the right direction and will be ready to play."
Moving ahead to the Eagles, McDermott knows his team has to be prepared for the Eagles offensive weapons, led by Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.
"You mention their running back [Barkley] obviously who is one of a kind and what he's be able to accomplish over the years and then the two wide receivers as well" McDermott said with Sal Capaccio. "So it's a tough outfit to bottle up and we will have our hands full with the challenge, but we look forward to it".
