Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the sixth time this season, a member of the Buffalo Bills has been named an AFC Player of the Week.
Following his Week 11 performance against the Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, linebacker Terrel Bernard has been honored as the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
One of the anchors of the defense and a team captain, Bernard helped seal Buffalo's 30-21 win over the Chiefs on Sunday with an interception of quarterback Patrick Mahomes on a 4th-and-13.
Not only did Bernard record the late-game interception in the win, he also led the team with eight tackles and a sack, helping the Bills end the Chiefs' undefeated season.
The third-year pro out of Baylor University is one of nine players in Bills history to record a sack and an interception in multiple games.
Bernard was also the only player this week to record both a sack and an interception.
The 25-year-old now joins Tyler Bass, Josh Allen, Taron Johnson, James Cook, and Greg Rousseau as other Bills players to earn AFC Player of the Week honors in 2024.
This is also the second time Bernard has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week in his career. The first instance came last season in a Week 3 win over the Washington Commanders.
The Bills have their bye this week before returning to action next Sunday night against the reigning NFC champion San Francisco 49ers at Highmark Stadium. Kickoff next Sunday is slated for 8:20 p.m. EST.
