Pittsford, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the second day in-a-row at Buffalo Bills training camp at St. John Fisher University, running back James Cook did not participate in practice due to his unhappiness over his contract situation.
Cook was seen right before practice began, walking near the medical tents on the side of the field. But as opposed to Sunday when he first sat out for, what he said called "business" reasons, he did not come out to the track to work on an exercise bike.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane addressed the Cook situation earlier in the day during an appearance with the "Jeremy and Joe Show" on WGR, saying "it takes two, and both sides have to agree on what that number is. Obviously that hasn't gotten there."
With Cook out, second-year running back Ray Davis has been seeing plenty of reps with the first-team offense.
"I just control what I can control, as far as coming out here and doing what I can do," Davis told reporters after practice on Monday. "It's kind of a next-man-up mentality for practice. So whoever's getting reps, me, Ty [Johnson], 'D-Ev' [Darrynton Evans], or Frank [Gore Jr.], we've got to go out there and keep playing ball and let everything take care of itself."
Participation update
Linebacker Baylon Spector went down awkwardly during a late 11-on-11 period and walked off the field with trainers.
Three more players did not practice at all on Monday, but none of them were due to injury. Cornerbacks Taron Johnson (vet rest day) and Dane Jackson (personal/excused), and defensive tackle Deone Walker (illness) were all not participating.
These players are in addition to those who were already out and not participating:
