The Pirates short stop hit the hardest baseball ever recorded in the Statcast era during the Pirates final game against the defending World Series Champion Atlanta Braves.

The 122.4 mph rocketed off of Cruz’s bat and hit the Clemente Wall, resulting in a single.

The ball was hit so hard, the ball bounced off the wall and into right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr.’s glove before Cruz made it to first.

The statcast era began in 2015.

The next hardest baseball hit this season was off the bat of Yankees designated hitter/outfielder Giancarlo Stanton at 119.8.

According to one Twitter account, Cruz’s hit would’ve been a home run in 24 of 30 ballparks across MLB.

But not in PNC Park, the 21-foot high Clemente wall prevented the record-breaking hit from being a home run.

That’s been the only good thing for the Pirates on Wednesday, in the top of the 5th the Pirates were down 7-0.

Cruz is batting .201 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI.
