The highlights were not in the Buffalo Sabres’ favor on Tuesday night after falling 2-0 to the Anaheim Ducks at KeyBank Center. The Sabres now sit at 8-14-3 and have lost five straight.

Ducks forward Trevor Zegras had the highlight of the night following a lofted pass from behind the net that allowed Sonny Milano to tap in the night's first goal.

Tuesday was the first time the Sabres had been shut out since their 5-0 loss to the Calgary Flames on Nov. 18.

This loss also comes off the heels of two demoralizing losses for the Sabres. Buffalo took a 3-0 lead against the Panthers after the first period last Thursday night, but ultimately lost 7-4. Then on Saturday, Buffalo lost 6-2 to Carolina, a game in which they never led.

During his weekly appearance on the “Howard and Jeremy Show”, Sabres head coach Don Granato clarified why he was as upset as he was following Tuesday night's loss.

“What was upsetting was that this was a winnable hockey game,” Granato said with Howard Simon and Nate Geary. “There were some frustrations within the context of the game that hadn’t been resolved, and all of that tied in with that being a loss and we had chances. We just didn’t score.”

There were other frustrations from Tuesday’s game as forward Casey Mittelstadt, who had just come back from injury, seemed to have hurt himself again during the third period.

“He will get some imaging done this morning so we can get a read on a timetable,” Granato said of Mittelstadt’s injury. “We don’t know yet if it is a re-injury, and there is also concern that it could be scar tissue.”

The Sabres are back on the ice this Friday night against the New York Rangers at KeyBank Center. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. EST with pregame coverage on WGR set for 6 p.m. EST with Mike Schopp and the Bulldog.
