Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres have placed forward Vinnie Hinostroza on waivers, according to reports on Wednesday.

With this move, the Sabres will be hoping the veteran winger can clear waiver at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday in order to send the 28-year-old to the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League.

It is also expected with Hinostroza being placed on waivers, it will put an end to the cycle of roster moves the team has been making over the past week to accommodate for the number of goaltenders on the roster.

Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman previously noted in the latest edition of his "32 Thoughts" blog Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams was attempting to trade Hinostroza to find him a place to play. However, it appears that Adams was unable to do so.

The Sabres has a day off from practice on Wednesday, but will be back on the ice Thursday when they take on the New York Islanders at KeyBank Center.

Thursday will also be "Ryan Miller Night" in Downtown Buffalo, where the team is set to retire the former Sabres goaltender's No. 30, and also induct him into the Sabres Hall of Fame. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 5:50 p.m. EST for ceremonies to begin at 6 p.m. EST.
