In the Mayor's race in the City of Scranton, incumbent Democrat Paige Cognetti will face Republican challenger Darwin Shaw in November. She faced Democrat John Murray in the primary.9:55pm- Scranton mayor Paige Cognetti declares victory in her primary challenge with city controller John Murray. Cognetti will face off with Republican Darwin Shaw in November.

In Taylor Loni Kavulich Loiselle is the Democratic nominee for mayor come November. She bested Frank DeAngelo Jr. With no Republican challenger she is likely to  win the seat in November.

In Lackawanna County voters will decide between Democrat Attorney Mary Walsh Dempsey and Republican Attorney Nisha Arora to fill the spot for judge.

also Incumbent Lackawanna County register of wills Fran Kovaleski bested challenger Patrick O'Malley in the Democratic Primary. She will face Republican April Jenkins in the fall.

The special election to fill the state senate seat in the 22nd district went to Democratic State Representative Marty Flynn.   It had been held by John Blake who stepped down to take a position with Congressman Matt Cartwright's office. The 22nd district is made up of all of Lackawanna County and parts of Luzerne and Monroe Counties.

Some races are still not official with vote numbers too close to call.

In Luzerne County in the race to fill two spots on the county bench, former District Attorney Republican Stefanie Salavantis was the highest vote getter on both the Republican and Democratic tickets. Although other candidates are too close to call, it appears State Rep Tarah Toohill is in second place on the Republican side and on the Democratic side the race  Magisterial District Judge Alexandra Kokura Kravitz is leading former Luzerne County Councilman Jim Bobeck.

On the 4 Ballot questions...

Pennsylvania voters said yes on the questions regarding allowing departments which have paid personnel to apply for loans thru the current program available to volunteerAlso the Equality of rights has passed.

The questions on the emergency declarations to expand emergency control and limit emergencies to 21 days are still too close to call. ​
