Brothers Aron and Christian Surplus are safely back home after a close call with a lightning strike during Sunday’s powerful thunderstorms that swept across Northeast Pennsylvania.
While working on a demolition derby car with their father, Ronald Surplus, a bolt of lightning struck a nearby tree, tearing away its bark. The powerful jolt hit 27-year-old Aron and his 13-year-old brother Christian, sending both to the hospital for evaluation.
An ambulance transported the brothers to a nearby hospital, where they were monitored for a few hours before being released. All three family members say they’re feeling thankful — and lucky — to be okay.
