It took hours for fire crews from several areas of Luzerne County to put out a fire that could be seen from much of the Wyoming Valley Sunday. The fire was reported to be a brush fire that spread to J and L Auto Parts in Larksville. Tires and several vehicles that burned in the junkyard, caused the thick gray smoke that engulfed much of the area near the Lark Diner and shut down East Main Street and the Carey Avenue Bridge. Crews remained on the scene into the evening wetting down hot spots keeping the blaze from spreading and were called back this morning. The investigation into the cause is ongoing.
