A Carbondale woman has been accused by the Lackawanna County district attorney’s office of causing the death of her two-month-old son during an incident last summer. According to a criminal complaint filed by investigators, 28-year-old Thalia Matos faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. The charges stem from an evening in July at a residence on Fallbrook Street, where authorities allege Matos fell asleep in the same bed as the infant, Royce Coxson, while she was in an intoxicated state.

The infant was found deceased following the co-sleeping incident. After the charges were filed, Matos was officially arraigned and subsequently released on bail. The legal proceedings are set to continue later this month, with a preliminary hearing currently scheduled for February 17 to determine if there is enough evidence for the case to head to trial.
