ARCHBALD, PA — The Archbald Borough Planning Commission was forced to cancel its scheduled Wednesday meeting after a wave of recent departures left the advisory board without enough members to legally conduct business, stalling pending reviews for at least eight proposed data centers.
Over the past week, former Planning Commission Chairman Scott Gilliland, former Vice Chairman Walter Loff Jr., and board member Daniel Gilroy all tendered their resignations. Their exits mark eight total resignations from the seven-member panel in under a year, continuing a turbulent stretch of municipal turnover fueled by mounting public debate and legal tension surrounding data center development in the borough.
Under local governance rules, the seven-member planning commission requires a minimum of four members present to establish a quorum. Without a quorum, the board cannot formally review land development submissions, render recommendations, or advance applications—effectively pausing progress on proposals for at least eight data center facilities slated for the municipality.
The resignations remain pending formal acceptance by Archbald Borough Council, which must vote on the matters and begin appointing replacements to restore the board to operational capacity.
Archbald Borough Council is scheduled to hold its next regular public meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 6:00 p.m.
