A public discussion last evening in Scranton gave details of a year long study to make downtown Scranton safer for cars, bikes and pedestrians. Urban planner Jeff Speck based in Boston, explained the findings and recommendations. They would include replacing 23 of the 30 traffic signals in the downtown with four way stops signs, making now currently one way streets, North Washington, Adams, Biden and Linden as well as part of Monroe Ave two way streets, updating cross walks and giving Lackawanna Avenue a full rebuild. Updating bike lanes and crosswalks are also suggested. You can view the study at scrantonpa.gov.
