Emergency crews are investigating the cause of a deadly house fire that claimed the life of an elderly man in Luzerne County on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters from Wyoming, West Wyoming, and Edwardsville rushed to the scene of a home along Cooper Hill Road shortly after 4:00 p.m. upon receiving reports of a fast-moving blaze.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they were immediately notified that an individual was trapped inside the burning structure. Shortly after their arrival, an explosion occurred inside the home, complicating rescue efforts. Investigators have not yet determined what triggered the initial fire or the subsequent blast, and the identity of the victim has not been released.
