Luzerne County officials are expected to announce today whether the final Rockin’ the River concert of the summer will take place as scheduled Friday night on the River Common in Wilkes-Barre.

According to reports, vendors slated to participate in the event received an email from the executive director of Visit Luzerne County stating the free concert would be canceled. However, County Manager Romilda Crocamo is expected to make the final decision later today.

The concert’s status came into question after the originally scheduled headliner, Low Cut Connie, was dropped due to concerns over political messaging in their songs that officials feared could create security risks. The situation grew more complicated when the county learned that the frontman of the replacement band—an AC/DC tribute act—has a criminal record involving a minor.

This summer’s Rockin’ the River concert series has drawn large crowds and featured a variety of live music acts along the Susquehanna River. The final show was expected to cap off the popular event’s season. A formal announcement from the county is expected soon.
