Hundreds of residents flooded the Valley View High School auditorium on Thursday night for the first public hearing regarding the "Project Green Mountain" data center campus. The massive turnout underscores the intense community interest in the proposal, which seeks a conditional use permit to construct seven two-story data centers on land east of the Casey Industrial Highway. This high-stakes meeting followed a dramatic leadership shakeup in Archbald Borough just one day prior, where council members ousted three top officials after months of public pressure regarding the previous administration's handling of such industrial developments.
Despite the large crowd and lengthy session, the hearing was cut short due to time constraints before the developer could complete their testimony. As a result, the council must schedule a follow-up meeting to allow for the conclusion of the developer's presentation and the mandatory public comment period. Once the hearing process is officially closed, the council will have 45 days to issue a final decision on the application
