Identification made on remains found in Monroe County

Human remains found last month in one part of Monroe County have been identified. Officials say an autopsy identified them as Dana Smithers from Stroudsburg. They were found in a wooded area near the Park Avenue/I80 on-ramp. The 45 year old woman had been reported missing in June of last year. She was last seen on surveillance video leaving a friend's home. Investigators were able to identify the body through dental records. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Stroud Area Regional Police Department. The investigation continues.
