DICKSON CITY — Lehigh Valley Hospital–Dickson City resumed critical medical services on Friday morning, just nine days after a devastating fire damaged a section of the campus. The facility’s emergency department reopened for 24-hour care at 7 a.m., followed by the resumption of surgeries and inpatient services at 9 a.m. The reopening was authorized after the hospital passed an inspection by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, confirming the building is in compliance with safety regulations. To support operations while repairs continue, a mobile kitchen has been established on-site to provide food service for patients. Hospital officials stated that physicians’ offices are currently contacting patients whose procedures were postponed due to the fire to arrange new dates, with some surgeries scheduled through the weekend to catch up on the backlog. While core units are operational, the health network continues to assess and repair the remaining areas where the fire was contained.
