Levee concerns for those along the river in Luzerne County

Levee concerns are on the minds of Luzerne County residents living near levees in need of rebuilding. The Federal Emergency Management Agency's termination of the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program, also known as BRIC, eliminates a source of funding to repair levees in Duryea and Exeter. Chris Belleman, director of the Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority says officials were looking to use the BRIC program to support the rehab of the Duryea levee along the Lackawanna River and the construction of a new levee in Exeter along the Susquehanna River. Officials with the Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority say they plan to continue looking for other funding opportunities to ensure the levees are completed.
