One man is in custody after kidnapping a woman in Scranton over the weekend and driving to New York. Scranton Police were called to a home on Florida Ave. for a reported "break in". Police could hear a woman screaming from outside the home once on scene. Police identified 42-year-old William Velasquez was armed with a knife and had taken a woman against her will at knifepoint. Velasquez fled the scene with the woman against her will and headed to New York in a vehicle. New York State Police and the New York Police Department were able to locate the suspect vehicle and took Velasquez into custody. The female victim was recovered unharmed.
