HARRISBURG, PA — Heading into Tuesday's midterm election, the Pennsylvania Department of State’s latest voter registration data reveals significant shifts across the Commonwealth's electorate, with Democratic and independent affiliations surging while the state Republican Party ended the cycle net-negative.

Since January 5, 2026, the Pennsylvania Democratic Party has added a net 70,889 registered voters, buoyed by an influx of nearly 17,000 new registrations during a late October surge. Independent and third-party affiliations also saw substantial momentum statewide, gaining a net 64,707 registered voters.

Conversely, the Pennsylvania Republican Party entered Election Day with 5,372 fewer registered voters than at the start of the year. State figures indicate the party recorded no net-positive registration months in 2026, driven in part by a net loss of more than 10,000 registered voters in September.
