The homicide trial for the man accused of killing a Hazleton business owner began on Monday inside a Luzerne County courtroom. Jafet Rodriguez is charged with shooting Ashok-kumar Patel inside Craig’s Food Mart on West Broad Street in Hazleton in December 2020. Rodriguez’s trial was delayed multiple times due to legal issues. He faces homicide, robbery, burglary, and theft charges. The trial is expected to last at least a week.
