2024 welcomed new laws in Pennsylvania...Once law signed by Governor Josh Shapiro aims at cutting down the scourge of porch pirates. The new law would upgrade the crime of porch piracy to a felony. In an effort to target repeat offenders, the new law would crack down on anyone who steals mail valued at more than $2,000.
Another new law on the books in Pennsylvania would require insurance companies to cover preventive breast and ovarian cancer screenings for high risk women at no cost.
Dogs in Pennsylvania will need to be licensed at 3 months of age, or at the point of transfer to a new owners. And dangerous dogs will not only need to be muzzled and leached, but also be put under physical restraint.
A new law will lower fitness requirements for prospective police officers in Pennsylvania. Future officers will now need to score in the 15th percentile on fitness tests – previously, they had to score in the 30th percentile.
