Two Ashley volunteer firefighters are facing charges after police say they made an excessive number of false 911 calls because they were “bored.” 19-year-old Zachary Gensel and 21-year-old Cody Wilson, who worked at the Ashley Borough Fire Department, are charged after investigators found they made 30 fake calls to Luzerne County 911 dispatch. Detectives met with Luzerne County 911 about an abundance of false 911 calls from January through May. According to the affidavit, the calls included false claims of fires, crashes, false fire alarms, burning complaints, flooded roadways, wires down, and a variety of other emergencies. Gensel and Wilson face various charges in relation to these incidents.
