Property taxes are going up in Lackawanna County. The county commissioners voted 2 to 1 to approve the tax hike as part of a $164.5 million 2024 spending plan at Thursday's meeting. Property owners will pay 5.9% more in county taxes next year. Commissioners Jerry Notarianni and Debi Domenick, who will both leave office in January, voted yes. Commissioner Chris Chermak, who will begin a new four-year term in January, voted no.
