Governor Josh Shapiro has signed House Bill 1058 into law, a measure aimed at strengthening the Pennsylvania Lottery by allowing for more competitive and modern game offerings.
The new law reduces the Lottery’s required profit margin from 20 percent to 10 percent, giving officials greater flexibility to introduce new games with higher payouts and broader appeal.
According to Pennsylvania Lottery officials, the goal is to boost overall revenue by attracting more players, which in turn will continue to support key programs for older Pennsylvanians, including property tax and rent rebate programs, transportation assistance, and other services.
“This change helps ensure the long-term success of the Lottery while continuing to fulfill its mission of supporting seniors across the Commonwealth,” officials said.
