A fugitive accused of gunning down a witness outside the Northumberland County Courthouse in 2024 has been captured after more than a year on the run. Authorities confirmed that 27-year-old Denarii Springs was taken into custody on Tuesday in Paterson, New Jersey. The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort involving the U.S. Marshals Service and multiple law enforcement agencies across both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The charges against Springs stem from a brazen daylight shooting in August 2024 that occurred during a lunch break in an attempted homicide trial. The victim, Dayveon Creel, was a witness in that trial and was fatally shot just outside the courthouse in Sunbury. The violence forced officials to declare a mistrial in the original case due to the death of the witness and the resulting security crisis.

While Springs remained at large, two other men identified as accomplices in the incident were previously apprehended. Naseir Robinson and Carmel Shelborne Jr. both entered guilty pleas for their roles in the crime and have already been sentenced. With Springs now in custody, investigators expect to move forward with the homicide proceedings that have been stalled since the 2024 shooting.
