WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A Luzerne County man has been sentenced to state prison for his role in a fatal daytime shooting that took place outside a downtown movie theater in the fall of 2024.

Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr. sentenced 29-year-old Brandon Del Castillo to serve between 20 and 40 years behind bars. The sentencing follows a March proceeding where Del Castillo pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and several related offenses in connection with the death of 35-year-old Lonnie Davis.

The charges stem from an incident on September 9, 2024, outside the Movies 14 complex on East Northampton Street. According to investigators, Davis was involved in an argument with a woman when Del Castillo arrived at the scene in a vehicle and opened fire, striking Davis multiple times.

Following the shooting, the woman fled the scene with Del Castillo. Local law enforcement officers tracked down and apprehended the pair a few days after the incident.

In addition to the third-degree murder charge, Del Castillo pleaded guilty to carrying a firearm without a license, possessing instruments of crime, and tampering with evidence, admitting that he dismantled the weapon and disposed of it after the crime.
