PLAINS TOWNSHIP, PA — The doors of the Woodlands Inn & Resort will remain shuttered for the foreseeable future following a disappointing re-inspection on Tuesday. The popular hotel complex has been closed to the public since November 24, and officials say there is currently no timetable for when it might be allowed to resume operations.
Jason Humenanski, owner of BHW Construction Consultation Services, conducted the follow-up assessment and expressed concern regarding the lack of progress at the site. According to Humenanski, the owners of the Plains Township landmark do not seem motivated to complete the necessary repairs required to bring the building back up to code. The initial inspection in November identified several critical safety violations that must be addressed before the facility can safely host guests again.
The primary safety concerns cited by inspectors involve the building's core life-safety infrastructure. Specifically, the facility’s fire alarm system, the overhead sprinkler system, and the emergency exit signs were all found to be in need of significant repair or replacement. Until these systems are fully functional and pass a rigorous state inspection, the resort will remain under a closure order, leaving many local events and travelers in a state of uncertainty.
