Chicago-based airline company United Airlines struck a purchase of 15 "Overture" airliners, with the option to buy 35 more.
The Overtures, which have yet to be built, are expected to fly at speeds up to 1.7 times the speed of sound. That's 1,300 mph. For example, a typical 11 hour flight from San Fran to Tokyo would take about 6 hours with the new planes.
Overture also expected to be the first large commercial aircraft to be net-zero carbon and run on 100% sustainable jet fuel.
The lineup slated to roll out by 2025, fly in 2026, and potentially carry passengers by 2029.
