There was a huge forest fire last year in California called The 2020 Castle Fire. The National Park Service returned to check out the area and noticed a sequoia tree still smoldering.

Actually more that just the tree is still smoking, “The fact areas are still smoldering and smoking from the 2020 Castle fire demonstrates how dry the park is. With the low amount of snowfall and rain this year, there may be additional discoveries as spring transitions into summer.” The fire started way back in August. More here.
