HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Gov. Ned Lamont wants state agencies to reorganize their human resources operations to improve efficiencies.
The Democrat on Wednesday signed his second executive order, requiring executive branch agencies to begin implementing the administration's new HR centralization plan.
Department of Administrative Services Commissioner Josh Geballe has been working for the past several months on the initiative. He says now is a good opportunity to reorganize human resources operations in executive branch agencies because roughly 124 of the 325 HR workers are expected to retire over the next few years.
Some HR staff will continue to work at their assigned agencies while others who perform specialized tasks, such as staff recruitment, will be organized into teams, working a centralized location.
Once fully implemented, the plan is projected to save $10 million annually.
