Cause of Death Released for East Haven Mother

FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ An autopsy reveals the cause of death for an East Haven mother whose body was found in Branford.

The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner says Lizzbeth Aleman-Popoca, 27, of East Haven, died of homicidal asphyxiation.

Aleman-Popoca was found buried in a shallow grave behind LoMonaco's Ristorante in Branford. Her body was found two weeks after she went missing on June 30.

The mother leaves behind a seven-year-old daughter who woke up on July 1 to find her mother was missing.

Police have not released any possible suspect information and have not made any arrests.
