Georgia Homicide Suspect Captured In Stonington

(WTIC-AM) -- A man wanted on a homicide charge in Georgia was captured by police in the woods near I-95 in Stonington.

Connecticut State Police said 23-year-old Robert Annunziata ran from a motor vehicle stop on the highway Sunday shortly before 5 pm.

He was a passenger in the car.  Stonington Police say he ran across part of the highway, into the median.

The McDonough, Georgia resident was tracked down by troopers, local police, and dogs near a little league field near North Anguilla Road in Stonington.

He was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Annunziata is accused of willfully killing person with a gun in the Atlanta area.

He faces Connecticut charges including resisting arrest and breach of peace.

Annunziata is due in court in New London today.

Stonington Police say recent upgrades to their radio system helped them communicate with State Police and Groton Police during the operation.
