Gov. Ned Lamont says "social distancing" and other measures are working to level off the potential reach of Coronavirus. Now, he's ordering open businesses to do more to help.
His "Safe Workplaces in Essential Businesses" executive order reads, in part, "Every workplace in the State of Connecticut shall take additional protective measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 between and among employees, customers, and other persons such as delivery drivers, maintenance people, or others who may enter the workplace."
At his daily news conference, Gov. Lamont said, "Most of it is things everybody is already doing, but now it's going to be clear. This is enforceable, and if you don't do it, we're going to tell you so."
It's unclear if there are potential penalties for violators.
The governor is telling manufacturers and other essential businesses to take workers' temperatures, and send them home if they have a fever of 100.4 F or higher. The order also calls for "frequent clearning of touch points," including door knobs and keyboards.
There are many other measures involved. You can link to the complete list of rules by clicking on the link, "CT'S SAFE WORKPLACE RULES FOR ESSENTIAL EMPLOYERS," below.
