MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police are ten days into their holiday enforcement detail and have since responded to over 700 accidents.
Of the 740 accidents, police say there were four total fatalities. The fatalities occurred in Bethany, Hartford, Westbrook and Windham. Police also say 118 of them were with injury.
One of the fatalities was considered a serious injury for several days until Sunday, December 29, when state police deemed the serious injury a fatality.
Police say the incident occurred on Christmas Eve and involved evading. Troop F was able to identify a person of interest, police say, thanks to the media, Connecticut citizens and social media. According to police, the investigation is still ongoing and it's anticipated an arrest warrant will be applied for in the future. Troop F has not released any names.
State Police say they have made 59 DUI arrests. Police also issued 520 speeding citations and 1,687 hazardous moving violations. The moving violations, according to police, include unsafe lane changes, following too closely, moving over, etc.
Troopers have assisted 168 motorists and have had 12,072 calls for service.
