WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A teenager from Hartford is recovering from a bite from a police canine after he allegedly broke into a home in West Hartford early Wednesday and stole the keys to cars parked outside.
Police say the 15 year old was one of two people who burglarized the home on Simsbury Road around 2:30 a.m. The intruders were interrupted by the homeowner, said police.
The suspects fled on foot. Police responded with a canine, and the dog was able to track one of the suspects, who was apprehended on Timberwood Road. The teen sustained a dog bite to the right hip, said police.
He faces a host of charges including second-degree burglary and second-degree conspiracy to commit burglary. The teen was turned over to a parent, said police.
This same suspect was arrested by West Hartford Police last month for being in possession of a stolen GPS unit and car keys that did not belong to him, said police.
The search continues for the second suspect.
