SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Don't flush sanitizing wipes down the toilet. That's the message from officials in South Windsor, after four of the town's 11 pumping stations became clogged Tuesday. It has always been a problem, but Public Works Director Michael Gantick says they've seen an uptick in wastewater pumps getting clogged as more people turn to wipes to fight the coronavirus.Even wipes that say they are flushable, should not be flushed, stresses Gantick.Instead, he recommends placing a receptacle next to the toilet for the wipes. He says the only non-natural thing that should be flushed, is toilet paper.
