Renewed Push For Early Voting In Connecticut

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - At least three days of early voting would be required in Connecticut under a proposed amendment to the state constitution that lawmakers are expected to consider this year.

Secretary of the State Denise Merrill says the proposal would encourage civic participation and reduce lines at the polls on Election Day.

The amendment would require the approval of voters in 2020. Details of early voting would be left up to state lawmakers.

AARP and the League of Women Voters of Connecticut are among the groups backing the proposal.

Connecticut is one of 12 states with no form of early voting.
