(Wethersfield, Conn./WTIC) - Connecticut lost jobs in the month of May according to preliminary figures released today by the state Department of Labor.
According to DOL, the state shed 1,500 jobs last month.
The unemployment rate for May stayed steady at 3.8-percent.
On the plus side, officials say they revised the gain realized in April up 200, from 300-to-500.
Andy Condon, director of the department's Office of Research, says the trend for the first five months of 2019 has been flat.
Condon says while some sectors have seen growth, trade--particularly retrail trade--professional and business services are behind where they were last year.
Five of ten sectors saw gains in May, led by leisure and hospitality. Trade, transportation, and utilities saw the biggest reductions last month.
