When did the Celebrity Pro-Am at Travelers Championship first become so star-studded? Here's the full story, in another great moment in Travelers Champ history.

In 1973, the Greater Hartford Open got a celebrity partner. Sammy Davis, Jr. began a 16-year affiliation with the event, assuring it a star-studded Celebrity Pro-Am field. That year saw a tightly bunched field on the final round on Labor Day with ten different men leading or sharing the lead before Billy Casper emerged as the winner for the fourth time, more than any other golfer in Tournament history.

With the great history on the golf course comes the great history off the course, as we celebrate the over $40 million that the tournament has generated for our local community since 1952-- like the Mark Twain House and Museum, which aims to foster an appreciation for the legacy of Mark Twain as one of our nation's defining cultural figures and to demonstrate the relevance of his work. The Museum is committed to preserving the landmark and collections, and to serving as an educational and cultural resource for people of all ages and bakgrounds.
