NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police make an arrest in connection with an alleged plot to disrupt power to disrupt medical equipment.

The report of a disturbance around 3 a.m. Wednesday sent State Police to an address in New Fairfield.

Troopers say Giovanni Grillo, 73, of New Fairfield, allegedly cut the main power supply to an apartment located on the premises, knowing an occupant of the apartment needed medical equipment to maintain their health.

The occupant of the apartment indicated to Troopers that Grillo has wanted the occupant to vacate the apartment.

Investigators then met with Grillo, who acknowledged that he had interfered with the function of the medical equipment by shutting off the electrical supply to the apartment.

When asked if he understood that the medical equipment was vital to the wellbeing of the occupant of the apartment, Grillo indicated that he was aware of the potential ramifications of his actions.

Based upon the information obtained during the investigation, it was determined that this incident met the criteria of a family violence crime and Grillo was taken into custody.

Grillo is charged with intentional cruelty to persons, disorderly conduct, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault of an elderly person.
