Arrest made in shooting of New Haven officer

New Haven, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - There's been an arrest in the shooting early this morning of a New Haven police officer.

Thirty-six-year-old Jose Claudio is in custody.

Officer Chad Curry was struck in the ear and shoulder by the alleged gunman as he investigated a crash this morning at Blatchely Avenue and Chapel Street.

The officer, a nine year veteran of the force, was treated for injuries to the ear and shoulder and released from an area hospital.

Claudio faces a slew of charges, including assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He was picked up in Hartford and is now being held on $1 million bond.
