NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) is re-introducing a bill in Washington that would stiffen penalties on alleged animal abusers.
It comes as animal abuse cases are up 37% in Connecticut since 2023.
The Better Collaboration, Accountability, and Regulatory Enforcement(CARE) for Animals Act would provide additional federal enforcement, civil penalties, and removal of animals experiencing harmful treatment.
The bill is being re-introduced with help from Republican John Kennedy (R-LA).
