HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Meta's controversial new map feature on Instagram is getting opposition from Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT).
Senator Blumenthal has teamed up with Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) in writing to meta to demand the company shut down the feature, saying it poses a risk to children by allowing them to expose their location to dangerous individuals, including pedophiles and traffickers.
Blumenthal and Blackburn lead the bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act, legislation that provides young people and parents with the tools, safeguards, and transparency they need to protect against online harms.
