TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A minivan heading southbound on state Route 8 in Torrington struck and killed a bear on Sunday night, according to state police.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:23 p.m. near exit 46, just shy of the Winsted-Torrington town line.
No human injuries were reported.
Areas like the one where the incident occurred, which is heavily wooded, see an uptick of bears wandering onto the highway during the autumn months, police said, as they search for food in preparation for winter hibernation.
