NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner releases the cause of death for fallen New Haven firefighter Ricardo Torres, Jr.
Officials say Torres died from asphyxiation due to a lack of breathing gas.
His death has been ruled an accident.
Torres died while trying to put out a house fire in May, 2021.
Another New Haven firefighter, Lt. Samod Rankins, was critically injured in the same overnight fire. He is still recovering.
